All the angles on DeepSeek
Hi, everyone! Happy Valentineâs Day to each and every one of youâŁď¸
Whether you think Valentineâs Day is 1) a treacly ritual not in love or commitment but rather late-stage capitalism or 2) a wonderful little excuse to celebrate love in all of its shapes and formsâŚwe hope youâre having a great Friday and that you get a sweet treat no matter what.

Matt Wolfe | Megan Tan | Camille Bergin
Matt Wolfe marks a major milestone | AI, tech, and futurism creator. Incredibly positive and thoughtful person. Genius behind a YouTube channel that, as of very recently, has over 700K subscribers. A few more major Matt stats because why not: 55+ million video views, nearly 400 videos, 180K newsletter subscribers. Letâs go. đ
And so does Megan Tan | Talk about a big month for YouTube wins. Megan Tan, whose filmmaking videos are truly pieces of art, now has 300K YouTube subscribers! Weâre so impressed with everything Megan makesâthis video and this video are just a couple of my recent favorites.
Creators đ¤ DeepSeek | A story that inspires multiple Smooth creators to make videos feels like when your birthday is on a Saturdayâdoesnât happen often, but extra magical when it does. Thatâs what the release of Chinese AI model DeepSeek was like for our crew: Jacklyn Dallas, Matt Wolfe, and the Coding Sloth all jumped into the DeepSeek fray with their own super smart videos. Thankful for our creators explaining complicated things above my pay grade. đ
Camille (aka TheGalacticGal) celebrates women in STEM | This week marked the International Day of Women and Girls in Science. Given the recent resistance to initiatives that, as Camille put it, âopen doors for underrepresented voices in STEM,â Camille took the moment to highlight fellow women in space who deserve a follow. Thank you for this, Camille! đ

Some of the fun partnerships our teamâs been working on with creators + brands

The WSS | Jerry Lee | STS
The Wall Street Skinny x Macabacus | This one was an absolute banger. Explaining a challenging and time-consuming Excel model made possible by a Macabacus tool with a timely nod to the Kendrick Lamar concert Super Bowlâlove to see it.
Jerry Lee x Fiverr | You know how people say work smarter, not harder? Jerryâs superb video about his friend using Fiverr to zhuzh up his rĂŠsumĂŠ after three months on the job market and 600 applications (with no luck) feels like that adage come to life. Perfect use case for the product + perfectly paced video.
Salary Transparent Street x Public | Wanting to know what other people paid for their houses is as close to a universal human experience as we may ever get, which is why I loved how Hannah and James opened this video about their investing strategies using the Public app. They put their money where their mouth is re: transparency in money and investing, and it shows (read the video comments). Thatâs why partnering with an investing app works so well.
Thoughts for the Road đŁď¸
A little something weâve been chatting about here at Smooth HQ
Iâve been bending your ears (eyes?) with all my âthoughtâ âleadershipâ in several of the last Smoothletters. I bet youâre all like: We get it! Smooth has a cool new website! The team went to CES and learned tons! Adults often called you precocious and long-winded as a child!
So today, weâre doing a different setup for Thoughts for the Road: a (brief) compendium of really good content the team has recently shared in the âHigh Quality Contentâ portion of our start-of-week meeting.
Roll the tape âśď¸
How the creator economy has transformed marketing, according to some very smart people on Semaforâs Mixed Signals podcast.
Talk about a headline: âA Spymaster Sheikh Controls a $1.5 Trillion Fortune. He Wants to Use It to Dominate AIâ
From the BrandFathers: Marketing stunts are back, but that doesnât necessarily mean theyâre good.
Tim Ferriss interviews very successful investor Chris Sacca about getting into good trouble.
I truly admire Emily Sundbergâs Feed Me newsletter, especially when it features her cabal of columnists. This at-bat from semi-anonymous restaurant critic JLee was honest, poignant, and informative.
And I would personally like to make the case for the podcast If Books Could Kill. Their episodes on The Secret and Rich Dad Poor Dad are masterful, but itâs their takedowns of every non-fiction title Iâve seen on the bookshelves of men with âbuilding something big đď¸â in their Twitter profiles that really make me giggle. More fun podcasts 2025!

Thanks for reading! One more thing: We helped our friends at Popular Pays host a lovely dinner for NYC marketers earlier this monthâgo here to see some Smoothies and our friends looking very cute.
Have a wonderful weekend and weâll see you back here soon!
